Aletheias was born from a simple reality every veterinarian knows well: when you go solo, you're often truly on your own.

Our founding team is a veterinarian and her tech-savvy husband. When she opened her own practice, it was just her. No hallway consults. No second set of eyes. That independence came with a quiet worry—what if I miss something?

Earlier in her career, she worked in a larger practice where second opinions were easy. Another doctor could quickly review a radiograph, confirm a suspicion, or catch something subtle. Going solo meant losing that safety net. The alternative was sending studies to a board-certified radiologist—an option that was often expensive, slow, and impractical for everyday cases. What she wanted wasn't a full radiology report. She just wanted a reliable second opinion.

Her husband had spent the last 15 years working at some of the world's leading technology companies, already focused on AI and machine learning in his day job. When he heard this problem, his reaction was simple: we can build this.

He began digging into her PACS system and quickly realized there was a trove of untapped data. Using modern machine learning and generative AI—trained exclusively on veterinary images of dogs and cats, not repurposed human models—he built the first version of what would become VetScan.

Along the way, the founders learned two important truths. First, AI only gets better with data. Second, customers don't want to buy "dumb" AI. That tension shaped Aletheias's mission from day one: work directly with veterinary clinics to continuously improve the system, so every new case makes the next one smarter.

Aletheias exists to give veterinarians what they've always valued—another trusted set of eyes—without the cost, delay, or friction of traditional options.
